When Vikas was 10, his parents moved from Delhi to New York and later to Los Angeles. "I wanted to be an actor since childhood. But in the US, they prefer Caucasians and black guys. That's part of the reason I'm here. The other is that I have dreamt of being a romantic action hero in Hindi movies," says Vikas.

Vikas spent his first three months in India figuring out how to buy food and get around. It was horrible. I had sleepless nights and felt hungry all the time, Vikas recollects. Then he started knocking important doors and showing his portfolio, and that was how he got his breakthrough. He did a couple of fashion shows for Hemant Trevedi. "Hemant Trevedi is my godfather. He gave me the confidence I needed, taught me how to deal with the industry and introduced me to a lot of people," says Vikas.
